One half is lacquered wood, fluted and sealed. The other is a full wrap of brass and copper tubing, circling the rounded section of the base, placed piece by piece, tube by tube, in a sequence that exists only once. Above them, a marble top holds the surface as it once was — before decades of retreat pulled the shoreline back and left the sea shrinking year over year.\u003cbr\u003eBehind the base, a mirror stands at its width. A fixed light sits above the point on the base where the two halves meet — trained on the exact coordinate where the water has receded.\u003cbr\u003eThree components, one configuration: base, mirror, light, positioned in relation to each other and unable to be repeated.
